The man, the myth, the legend

Hi there bloomers, I’m the man behind the woman you all know and love.

So a little back story on me. I’m a strange guy. I love anime, watching anime, throwing knives, and teaching.

I know by definition that’s not strange. But I like to think of myself as strange. I’m 34, I’m in love and engaged to a younger lady. But I love it! We come from two very different lives. But our love is what brings us together.

So to continue my story, just so you understand. I co-founded a company at 16 that is still running to this day. I’ve been divorced twice, god knows why she loves me. I do have one child from a previous union….. So now you see why I say I’m strange. Oh and I’m ex-military.

So that’s the long and short of who I am. I’m glad she has so many fans here.

But anyway, I’m here to talk about my favorite memories with her.

Maybe some of you remember the post about shooting? Yes, people that was me. I was the one who pulled the trigger. But sometimes you need help. And I’m not just speaking in that life reference. I’m talking about life. Sometimes we need someone to help us pull the trigger. Despite it’s a relationship, job, or being a better you. I can honestly say she has helped me pull my trigger on all of those subjects.

But this is my first post. I really don’t know what to talk about. I’m just kind of rambling. But I do love the fact that I’m not the only one behind her. So for that, I give you much love.

If you want me to be a guest again let her know.

Sincerely 40.

P.S. If you have any questions feel free to comment.

Water for Thought

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day!

So water for thought?

Basically the same concept of food for thought.

Meaning = something that warrants serious consideration.

So the behind the scenes story about this post starts back in February when one day I woke up to no running water. I’m thinking to myself WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK is going on right now? Can’t take a shower, unable to wash the dishes, wash my hands, or flush the toilet ( yes, I’m aware that is totally gross )

Originally the thought was that the pipes froze because it was still winter and cold as balls here in Montana and the ground here freezes constantly and reaches double-digit negative temperatures. So we had to get the city involved and get someone to thaw the ground out and get the water flowing again.

Someone came out and tried to fix the situation but was unable to.

My thoughts and feelings on that were very frustrated and I honestly kept thinking about how a lot of us simply take running water for granted. It is so important to our basic needs and overall well-being. I will never take water for granted ever again. You know the saying you don’t know what you have until it’s gone? Yeah that saying applies here and I know this might be a stretch but this has forever impacted me.

Water plays a more important in our lives than we often realize. Like for example Mother’s Day was yesterday so how would you mothers feel if you didn’t have the memory of your babies first bath? Unable to fill a kiddie pool in the summer for your children to cool off and have fun?

Water gives us life and we ( myself included ) need to take a deeper appreciation for it and use it wisely while making memories using it. You know all the fun stuff in the summer, running through the sprinkler, having a water balloon fight, swimming in the pool, washing our cars, watering our gardens or water to make some refreshing lemonade when you get thirsty. It could really mess with your mind and get you down not having water, that’s how I felt for a while.

Think to yourself for a moment, how would you feel if you were unable to take a shower in the morning ( ladies, you feel me? ) or simply wash your hands after using the bathroom? What would you do if you couldn’t wash your dishes and cook at home? I mean ordering out and getting convenience food could be a temporary fix and fun for a little while but in the long-term not a good solution.

I had no other choice but to order lots of water online and use that to do everything. Which funny enough my fiancé came up with a redneck ingenuity concept for taking a shower. Poke some holes in the gallon of water I ordered online but heat up the water first then have someone hold the gallon over you to take a shower.

THAT WAS HILARIOUS but very efficient.

So May comes around and we FINALLY have water again. The problem was the outside pipes leading to the house not inside the house. I literally jumped for joy I was so happy to have running water again and took the longest shower ever while savoring every moment. Moral of the story don’t take anything for granted. Really think to yourself, what if there was a world without water? That’s a desolate world I don’t want to live in, do you?

Water for Thought = Appreciate it because there are people in the world that don’t have the luxury of running water. “We never know the worth of water, until the well is dry.”

If you enjoyed reading this, you should try Its the Simple Things and come back soon for a guest post from my fiancé!

RoadTrippin’ through Montana

Happy Hump Day!

About two weeks ago,

I went on a road trip across Montana to Bozeman and Billings.

If you need to know anything about me – it’s how much I love road trips and everything about them! The music playlists, junk food and the company is so fun! I mean who doesn’t love them, am I right? Oh god, I can already see how many times I’m going to say road trip throughout this post.

It started out a little rough with inclement weather and slippery roads but not too bad once we got past all that and the sun decided to grace us with her presence.

I got to see new country and my love Montana has deepened because it’s just so damn beautiful.  I’m thinking to myself why don’t more people live here?  You just wanna lay down in the pasture and get lost in your mind or play the guess what that cloud looks like game. If you haven’t been here, you need to visit but don’t do it in the dead of winter unless you love the cold. But then again it’s also gorgeous here in the winter too just a lot colder than what I’m use to in New Jersey.

Bozeman was so cool to see and it kind of reminded me of this little town in New Jersey with all its charm and the little restaurants, bars and mom and pop businesses. Its a sweet, charming college town. I was only there overnight but from what I could see there is probably always something cool happening there. The short time I was in Bozeman was fun, I got a little taste of home with pizza that tasted like it was made for me from Jersey. Plus I love hotel beds, I know maybe its kind of weird but they are so damn comfortable with the fluffy pillows and soft down comforters and you don’t have to make the bed, I mean come on what’s more to love???

I got to see the cool dinosaur outside of the Museum of the Rockies. The pictures I’m about to post don’t do the mountains justice. I think it was one of the most breathtaking views I have ever seen.

The next day was on to Billings. We spent a few days there and in my opinion it wasn’t as beautiful as Bozeman but parts of it I liked. We walked through a bunch of cool trails at Montana Audubon Conservation Education Center and if you aren’t careful could probably get lost in all the diverging trails but sometimes it’s good for the soul to get lost. It was pretty muddy from all the snow melting but felt great to get out of the car and get some exercise. Yet again, this place reminded me of New Jersey, coincidentally the place it reminds me of is also has Audubon in the name.

The whole trip I thought to myself how beautiful everything was and not enough people appreciate nature and what surrounds us day after day.

My advice for the day – GO!

Take a road trip to a new place and take a lot of pictures!

Let me know in the comments where you want to take a road trip to or what your favorite music playlist to listen to in the car is.

Thanks for reading!

My Social Media Detox Experience

Happy Monday Peeps!

We have all read a blog article or two about social media detox or taking a break from social media and each article has their own take but this is mine.

What inspired this detoxification was an article I read on Facebook, how ironic right?

This article went into detail about the advantages and disadvantages of social media and what it is doing to us as people as a whole and to try our own social media detox.

So My Social Media Detox Experience started in February and lasted about three weeks. It mostly started because of an article I had read but also because each day I went to check my notifications I would feel more and more insecure about myself or start comparing my life to everyone else’s and I knew that wasn’t good for me.

I’ll start with Instagram, it’s so fake and bullshit, mostly anyway. There a select few that are authentic.

Its nothing but models selling fucking tea or who can get the most followers today. Honestly, I could give two fucks about who follows me but I permanently deleted Instagram from my phone and sometimes get updates through email but I don’t think ill ever go back on Instagram because it will always be about people trying to make everyone believe their life is perfect when under the surface its not.

I’m not saying I don’t have flaws, because god knows I do and I try to continually work on them but life is short and hard enough as it is already so why waste time trying to be perfect?

Once I deleted all my social media apps, I immediately felt the weight lift off my shoulders. It felt amazing not to feel obligated to post cool memes or stories, or have the perfect filter on my pictures. I saw myself being happier and having more time to focus on myself and connect with family and friends off of social media.

I did see myself sometimes looking at phone for notifications to pop up but stay focused in the moment instead.

I started realizing the experiences I was missing out on around me and ever since I deleted the apps I began to appreciate my love for nature more.

It’s the little real life things that matter.  Like sitting outside when it’s so quiet so can almost hear it snowing and feeling it hit your face. Taking a walk at night and looking up at the stars and realizing your worries are so small.

This detox was good for me, it made me realize that none of that social media bullshit matters. Its fun once in a while and nice to keep in touch with family and friends especially when you don’t live exactly close. But try this experience for yourself and see how your perception of yourself and the world change.

I love these when I drink water,  they just add a little flavor without having that chalky or artificial taste and it’s definitely better than soda.

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday Everyone!

How is everyone doing?

Ready for the Holidays?

I’m sorta ready for the holidays but its funny how it always seems so far away in the summer time but then fall hits and the holiday season arrives quicker than we realize. Well ready or not, it’s coming!

Let me share my favorites of the week with you!

What to Watch

A rookie officer is teamed with a hardened pro at the California Highway Patrol, though the newbie soon learns his partner is really an undercover Fed investigating a heist that may involve some crooked cops. This movie is a must see if you love comedy!

Gods of Egypt

Mortal hero Bek teams with the god Horus in an alliance against Set, the merciless god of darkness, who has usurped Egypt’s throne, plunging the once peaceful and prosperous empire into chaos and conflict. At first I was kind of hesitant to watch this because it could be labeled as a “guy” movie but I don’t think it is. Definitely watch this if you haven’t already.

What to Listen to

Binge Worthy Favorites

Happy Friday Peeps!

It’s officially December!

Have you finished Christmas shopping or are you a last-minute shopper? And if you don’t celebrate Christmas, what holiday season traditions do you have?

The weather is getting colder and colder as the days go on, so grab some hot chocolate, tea or even some water and cuddle up while I share my favorites with you!

What I’ve Been Watching

Banshee (Amazon Prime)

An ex-con assumes the identity of a murdered sheriff in the small town of Banshee, Pennsylvania, where he has some unfinished business. If you like action, mystery, witty banter and a little sexy feel, definitely give this show a try. I’ve watched about two seasons so far so don’t quote me on season three and four just yet.

Orphan Black (Amazon Prime)

A streetwise hustler is pulled into a compelling conspiracy after witnessing the suicide of a girl who looks just like her. This show was recommended to me by a fellow blogger and she did not disappoint! The first episode is a little slow in the beginning but I was totally hooked and haven’t stopped watching since I hit play.

What to Listen to on Repeat

I added some new songs to this playlist so give it a listen. Its got some pump up songs, some killer rock, and some sentimental tunes as well. Its got something for everyone.
